Joelita is a student in the Postgraduate Program in Communication Science, specialising in “Educommunication and Child/Youth Culture: From Media Engagement to Critical Agency” at the School of Communications and Arts (ECA) at the University of São Paulo (USP).

She participated as an ambassador (2022) and junior mentor (2023) in the Planetary Health Ambassadors Program, coordinated by the Planetary Health Brazil Study Group: A Transdisciplinary Approach to Planetary Sustainability Integrated with Human Health: at the Institute of Advanced Studies of the University of São Paulo (IEA-USP). She also participated in the Planetary Health Alliance 2023 Campus Ambassador Program.

She is a member of Brazilian Association of Researchers and Professionals in Educommunication (ABPEducom), and coordinates the Lins Regional Chapter of ABPEducom.

She coordinates the Planetary Health Youth Clubs in Brazil (Program of the Girawa Student Network).

She volunteers in her city, supporting projects to promote human and environmental health.
